The one thing to remember is that when you use your debit card as a credit card the transaction dose not clear your checking account instantly as it would if you used your debit card as a debit card. My Visa debit card can be used either way but the funds still come out of my checking account. Some stores are behind on the debit card thing even still. At times the store wouldn’t accept my debit card as a debit but when I used the same (debit) card and told the cashier credit, it went thru.

It might be safer to use a credit card though, and just pay back the credit card when the bill comes in.
